I’m a honestly healthy 21 year ancient female, around 5’4, 110 lbs. I just recently started taking advantage of the fitness center at my university so I could tone up some muscles & get in better shape. I tend to eat alot of carbs because I was told carbs help you gain muscle mass. But, I also have a really high metabolism, so I tend to burn everything off quickly. Should I just eat more carbs or are there other foods or methods that can help you develop muscle mass?

I am 16. I read that you rebuild lost muscle much quicker than building new muscle that you never had before. I lost a lot of muscle due to under eating on a diet while doing a lot of cardio. How quick should i rebuild the lost muscle if i start working out? Would it be realistic of me to gain (as a beginner) 3 pounds of muscle a month?
