If you are referring to special forces as in the only group that is actually called special forces aka the green berets you could be doing better pt then what you currently are. You need to start doing crossfits work out of the day (crossfit.com) along with lifting. Crossfit has some running in there although it will never hurt to do a little more running then they have you doing. The biggest thing if you are talking the real SF is you need to get a ruck on your back and it will be heavy (over 100 pounds without a problem at times and up to 120 pounds). Oh and being tall is an advantage not a disadvantage so the jello dude has no idea what he is talk about.

what is jello talking about..... the logs at BUD/s are not even close to 500 pounds, Ole' Misery is only 400 and you arnt ever going to have to run 2 miles while carrying it... ever... the logs weigh 120 pounds... its people like him that run their mouths about **** they've never done or seen that make people that have been there and done it very mad.

If you want to get into shape for whatever special operations unit you have chosen you are on the right path, run swim push-ups pull-ups sit-ups, focus on the running swimming and pull-ups, you are shooting for around a 6 minute mile held constant for around 4 miles and a 500 meter swim time around 8 minutes and around 21 pull-ups, if you can achieve those times and reps you have a statistically higher chance of making it.

i don't know what SF program you're planning on trying out for, but my suggestion is to watch documentation on the specific SF group you want to join and do what they do. but nothing can prepare you for running 2 miles with 8 other guys carrying a 500 pound log on your shoulders while some hard *** drill instructor barks at you. I will suggest getting used to cold wet conditions as much as you can, and if you're tall, forget it, you will have problems with your joints and bones.

my mistake, the log's 100 pounds lighter than what i said, and you don't have to go 2 miles. you completely missed the point. you can't train for something like that. it doesn't matter how heavy or how far you have to go with it. it's the teamwork required that is impossible to train for, as well as the toughness. please explain how height is an advantage. that info about height being an issue came from my boot camp, when one of the recruits was training extra hard to prepare, and someone said that to me about how tall he was.
